COVID-19 coverage in Healthcare Insurance – A prudent step in “new normal”.
As at 22th March 2022, there is 76,6 million people equal to 79.4% population of Vietnam have fully vaccinated. 47/63 provinces and cities have achieved over 95% coverage of 2nd vaccines against COVID-19 according to information of ministry of health. The death rate per infected cases of the last 30 days was 0.2% compare to 2.4% at August 2021. We still have to be careful to protect ourselves and family from COVID-19. We still need to wear mask, wash hand, keep the distance… but we understand that COVID-19 has become or will become a part of new normal.
UIC with the vision to become the active contributor to the transformation of the society, we acknowledged client, customer’s need and requirement to have protection for COVID-19 risk nowadays.
After a long and careful discussion with regional head-quarter actuary about COVID-19 situation in Vietnam, we come to the conclusion that it is possible to provide COVID-19 coverage for group health product. On 2nd March 2022, with announcement of “Diseases extension clause”, UIC send a message to market: “UIC is ready to protect the insured from COVID-19 and together, we will overcome the pandemic”.
